Wanderlust Wednesday: 5 Day Trips I Want to Take This Fall
Todays edition of Wanderlust Wednesday is all about the Ozarks! Fall is my absolute favorite time of year; I love taking walks, hiking, biking and taking pictures outside. It’s a lot cooler cooler, and the leaves are spectacular so it makes any and all outdoor activities 10 times better. So here are the top 5 places I want to visit in the Ozarks this fall:
The Laura Ingalls Wilder Home and Museum in Mansfield, MO
Ever since I was a little girl and my mom read the “Little House on the Prairie” books to me I have been in love with all things and stories with a pioneer theme. I’ve actually been here before, but I was really young (second grade), so I don’t remember too much of it. The house is still the original house that Almanzo built for Laura, and some of the exhibits in the Museum are Pa’s fiddle, Laura’s writing desk, and photos of the Ingalls and Wilder families!
Hermann, Missouri
Hermann is a German community right off the Missouri River, and it’s said that the original german settlers that moved there did so because it reminded them of the Rhine River Valley. This cute little town is filled with antique shops, B&B’s and wineries! I’ve wanted to go for a while, but especially now that I’m 21 I’m dying to go. There’s even a hiking trail that connects the wineries, which I’m super excited to hike!
Blanchard Springs State Park, Arkansas
This is one of the day trips Alex and I wanted to take this summer, but it seemed like something came up every time we planned it. This park looks so amazing. There are lakes, waterfalls and the Blanchard Springs Caverns! So it will be an awesome day of hiking, exploring and maybe even canoeing.
Table Rock State Park, Missouri
When I was in elementary school my grandpa had a cabin on Table Rock Lake, and we would spend every other weekend on the lake in the summer, but we never, ever went hiking! This state park is only about 35 minutes from my apartment, and I see a fall break trip to Table Rock coming because these views are spectacular!
Hemmed in Hollow Trail, Arkansas
This is another one of those places I’ve wanted to visit for a while. We actually planned on visiting this last fall, but this is going to be the fall! Alex has been, and says it’s a gorgeous trail. When you get to the bottom you get to look up at the highest waterfall between the Appalachians and the Rockies! Can’t wait to do this hike!
Well, there you have it, and thanks for reading, my top 5 day trips for the fall! Where are you guys taking day trips to this fall?

Ya know, I’ve gotta admit that I’ve always thought Arkansas was a backwoods kinda place and never really found it appealing. However, the more and more I learn about it, the more beautiful I have realized that it is.
So many people think of Arkansas that way, and I’ m not gonna lie.. There are some REALLY backwoods places there, but for the most part it’s a great state. There are so many natural wonders there! Thanks for reading!
