Wanderlust Wednesday- Christmas Presents that Inspire Travel
Hello everyone! Happy Friday (I’m pretending it’s Wednesday, though, so my “Wanderlust Wednesday” post isn’t two days late… sorry about that! This week post is all about Christmas gifts I received that inspire travel! My immediate family and my friends have been always been really supportive of my tendency for Wanderlust, and this Christmas they made it even more clear to me by giving me things to help inspire me to keep traveling. So I thought I would tell you guys about some of my favorite things I got this Christmas to inspire travel!
My parents got me a Spinner 360 Camera. It’s a lomography camera with a string that you pull and the camera rotates to take a full 360 degree picture that takes up four frames of your 35mm film. I’m really excited to go to some really, really amazing places so I can take some spectacular and unique panorama photographs! I’ll post examples as soon as I get them developed and scanned!
My best friend got me an Oktomat Camera. Another lomography camera with 8 lenses on the front and it takes 8 small pictures in one frame of your 35mm film over 2.5 seconds! Another great toy camera! It will also be great for taking interesting photos or new places and new friends!
My parents also got me a “Scratch Map”. It has a surface like a scratchers lottery ticket, and you scratch off where you’ve traveled and it shows really bright colors against the copper! I really love this, but it made me realized just how much I have left of the world to see, and I can’t wait!
My brother got me the movie Midnight in Paris which I mentioned in my first edition of “Wanderlust Wednesday- Movies that Inspire Travel”. For all of you wanderlusters who haven’t seen it yet, watch it immediately, it’s really fantastic!
I also received a globe shaped bank for me to stash change into for trips! I want to put a sticker or something on the place I’m saving for to keep me inspired everytime I set a little money aside.
My other friend got me this amazingly beautiful watercolor painting with an Emerson quote on it. It says “Live in the sunshine, swim in the sea, drink the wild air”. I was really flattered that she saw this and though of me. I can’t wait to find the perfect spot to hang this so I can be inspired each and every day!
Last, but not least, is a gift I received a wonderful gift from my grandma. I have already talked about how Angelina Jolie in my “Wanderlust Wednesday- Angelina Jolie’s Louis Vouitton Ad”, and how she’s just such a great inspiration, but now I’m REALLY excited to say she’s an inspiration for travel- with a putpose- because I received Notes from My Travels by Angelina Jolie. The summary on the back is:
“Three years ago, award-winning actress Angelina Jolie took on a radically different role as a Goodwill
Ambassador for the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR). Here are her memoirs from her
journeys to Seirra Leone, Tanzania, Pakistan, Cambodia, and Ecuador, where she liveed and worked and
gave her heart to those who suffer the world’s most shattering violence and victimizaion. Here are her
revelations of joy and warmth amid utter destitution… compelling snapshots of courageous and inspiring
people for whom survival is their daily work… and candid notes from a unique pilgrimage that completely
changed the actress’s worldview- and the world within herself.”
Angelina Jolie is a woman that I really admire. I love that she genuinely cares about these problems, and makes the most of her travels! I haven’t finished this book, yet, but just based on the portion that I’ve read I’m so inspired to do some travel with a purpose.
I hope everyone had a great Holiday Season- Sorry this post is a couple of days late, it’s was a long beginning of the week! Wishing everyone a great and safe New Year! What were your favorite gifts you gave or received that makes your ready to pack your bags and go, or help plan for another trip?
