Wanderlust Wednesday- Travel Journaling
Happy Wednesday! This week I’m catching up on my Wanderlust Wednesdays because I’ve missed a couple of weeks, so this edition is dedicated to travel journaling. I love to journal and collect little things along the way when I travel. I am a basic journaler, I just write about my day, and if I have little pamphlets or tickets, I staple those to the pages of my journal. However, when I see how other people journal about their travels, I get insanely jealous of the organization, the sketches and how beautiful some of these journals are. It always inspires me to try something new, so I thought I would share a few examples of these really beautiful and creative ways to journal those special moments while you wander.
^^ This is the inside and outside of this travel journal! Beautiful, huh? ^^

I love the idea of sketching (but I’m not very artistic) and I love putting little memories of your trip in them, like your favorite beer label, pictures and maps. These all look much more exciting than my travel journals! I would love to hear how you guys preserve your memories while on the road, and even send pictures for me to see!

I was away and couldn’t catch up with your posts..I am glad that you are back with your WW posts
Thanks for reading! It’s great to hear from you!
Wow – I love the effort that has gone into the journals! I am reliving and blogging my cycling trip across Canada, and I can assure you, my journal looks nothing like the beautiful journal examples you have in this post! In my defence – I was on a bicycle! The poor Hilary school notebook that I used has definitely been well used – folded in half and curled up a few times, shoved into my bag! I think next time I travel, I am going to try and create something a little more memorable! Those journals are like treasures from a voyage – love it! Now – if only I could learn to sketch like that!
I can imagine that biking would make it twice as difficult to journal like that; I don’t have an excuse like that! My journals sound like yours, beat up and thrown in my bag! I wish I could sketch like that too, and some of these I wonder if they journal like us, and then get home and redo it because some of them look like mini-scrapbooks!
I am so glad you posed this question of travel writing since it is something I have been wondering about too. I usually have a notebook that I just scrawl my memories into, but now that I have an I-Pad I’m thinking I will use Evernote. The question then is do I just take photos of memorabilia or do I still keep them and when I get back home display them in a jar – like you showed in your page of travel inspired crafts. Keep up the great writing!
Oh, I’m glad that you brought up the iPad. I hadn’t even thought about using technology from the get-go. I like the idea of taking pictures of the memorabilia, but I am a huge crafter. Thanks so much for reading and commenting and posing the question of using technology for travel journaling. I’d love to hear what you decide to do. I’m with you with the notebook, but I would love to branch out and do something more creative!
Yikes, given the time it takes for me to put together a simple blog post in digital form, hat’s off to anyone who can make something like that. Must be a great thing to have on the coffee table to share your trip with guests!
I know exactly what you mean! Especially while traveling, I can’t imagine having the supplies for some of these. Even to do them after looks very time consuming. I wish I could, though, because they’re beautiful!

Love the ramshackled old-world collectors look of the journals. It’s something I encourage my children to do for family hols but never thought of doing it myself for my trips. Now I wonder…
