Thanks for the great comment, Liz. I’m glad that this gives you some inspiration, because your blog inspires me every time I read it. I always want to just on a train to Sweden! I hope you do share any if you find them! I fell in love with the “All good things are wild and free” that you put on your pinterest and now I want it tattooed across my back, I’m just waiting for the right post to use that quote in.
About travel. Whatever we bring to the situation is what defines the situation. If I have a prejudicial notion concerning a place or an ethnic group, this will definitely color my view of that place or ethnic group before I even reach that particular destination.
When traveling, the road is part of the journey, but how we perceive and experience that road is the real journey–who we are inside IS the journey. Do we have a good attitude or a bad attitude about life in general? We are always projecting ourselves onto places, persons and things.
If a man is blind, he can see nothing. So if a blind man and man who has eyes are traveling through Salmon, Idaho (which is a very beautiful place surrounded by mountains), the man with eyes says that the scenery is beautiful, but the blind man doesn’t see the beautiful scenery.
Travel is risk. You are going to unknown places and discovering new things and new people. Life is risk. People need to explore outside the box–outside their preconceived notions–break free from the slavery of their man-made, protective shells.

That was really beautiful, and I completely agree. It’s amazing about how much our expectations and attitude do structure the way our adventures go. I think that’s why there are so many different takes on the same kind of experience, like you said about the blind man, it’s all about how we take in the experience.
I love thinking of life as a risk, but it’s so true. We put ourselves at risk everyday, and not even just physically, but emotionally and mentally. It is a risk, but I wouldn’t want to live life safely. This comment really inspired me today, so thank you so much!
