Wanderlust Wednesday- 4 Festivals I Want to Attend

Festivals are a great way to look into cultures.  Festivals sometimes show roots of the culture, key aspects of this culture, and it’s a great opportunity to meet others with similar interests as you!  I thought I would share five festivals that I really want to  experience.

Yi Peng Festival in Thailand

This festival is also known as a lantern festival.  In Thailand releasing a sky lantern on this day is good luck, and a symbol of a person’s problems and worries floating away.

The Christmas Markets in Germany

I thought I was going to get to visit the Christmas Market this past December, but I sadly didn’t make it.  However, my hopes are up to visit this amazing festival soon!

Running of the Bulls in Pampalona, Spain

This is something that has always intrigued me!  It is one of the things that my mind always goes to when I think of Spain.  I recently read The Sun Also Rises and when Hemmingway talks about the bull fights in that it made me really want to go observe this festival- I don’t know if I’d be brave enough (or quick enough) to run in front of a pack of bulls!

National Tom Sawyer Days in Hannibal, Missouri

Tom Sawyer Days take place in my home-state of Missouri and I’m hoping to make it up to partake in this festival very, very soon!

I can’t wait to attend some of these amazing festivals, as well as many others.  What are some festivals that you’re dying to attend?

I have been to the Christmas markets many times in Germany in a few different cities (they even have one in Chicago that I used to go to when I lived there) and they are brilliant. There is nothing like standing out in the cold drink gluvine and getting just drunk enough that being around so many shops selling interesting things is dangerous to one’s wallet!

I’m so jealous that you’ve been to the German Christmas Markets. I tried to go last year, but I didn’t quite make it- I may have to drive to Chicago this winter to visit that one! I understand the danger to the wallet, but I think the consumption of gluvine is totally worth it. Thanks for reading, and commenting.

There are also German Christmas Markets in northern Italy. You can kill two birds with one stone by being in Milan in early December each year.

Sounds great! I have never spent a Christmas away from home, but I would love to do it anywhere with beautiful decorations and markets! Thanks for the suggestion!

Yi Peng Festival is at the top of my list too and the Christmas markets in Germany are one of my favorite things about living here. The make the long, dark winter worth it! I hope you are able to go someday soon!

I hope we both get to make it someday! I was supposed to go to the Christmas Markets last year on my way to Italy, and it just didn’t work out for me. So, now I’m really itching to go! I’m glad to hear it’ll be worth the wait, though. Thanks for commenting!

I bet it was amazing! I think there is something amazing about being in a place during a festival of importance. It just seems like such a unifying and beautiful experience. Thanks for reading sharing what festival you want to attend.
