« Appalachian Trail – Hot Springs, NC »

I went to Hot Springs at the beginning of a year while on a snowy drive through the mountains, and I didn’t get to really spend time in the town, or walk through or anything because we made a really short stop at the Hot Springs Spa and took a dip in the hot tub for a bit. However, while my friend Sherwin was here, we took advantage of a super warm day to walk through the darling downtown and (even more exciting) do a bit of hiking along the Appalachian Trail (AT).

We started our trip in Hot Springs with a small hike on the Appalachian Trail along the French Broad River. I was just absolutely giddy about being on the AT. Sherwin was laughing at me (and honestly, I think judging me) for being so excited!

After this first tiny AT hike, we went into the cozy little town of Hot Springs. The downtown is a just one little strip. I love the buildings with old advertisements painted on the side of them, seeing the mountains in the background and walking on sidewalks with the Appalachian Trail markers.

Strolling down these train tracks. There is no other sound that makes my heart flutter with wanderlust than hearing a train whistle blow. Magical.

Our last adventure in Hot Springs was another little hike along the Appalachian Trail on the Lover’s Leap Trail Overlook! It was a 1.6 mile hike, and when you reach the top you have a beautiful view of the mountains and the town. It was truly a stunning, magical place to spend sunset.
