Frying Pan Fire Tower & Upper Falls

When my friend Jocelyn came to visit me this summer, we had a great day on the Parkway. We stopped at the Visitor’s Center and asked for a couple of hiking suggestions.  So, we took the ranger’s advice and did the Frying Pan Fire Tower hike and the Upper Falls at Graveyard Fields. They were both truly beautiful!

The hike up to the tower was covered with wildflowers in full bloom. It was stunning! We climbed to the top of the fire tower and we were rewarded with spectacular 360 degree views of the Blue Ridge Mountains. (Not that those are hard to come by).

We got to Graveyard Fields and this was the first time that I had the amazing wild blueberries from the mountains. Jocelyn and I were hiking to Upper Falls and we couldn’t help but stop every time we saw patched of these berries and pick handfuls to snack on as we hiked along. It was incredible! When we arrived to what we thought was Upper Falls, we were quite disappointed. Luckily for us, though, there was a family there that had found the actual falls and told us where to go, and it was beautiful!
