Mingo Day Trip

I made another day trip in my own home state, and I went to Mingo Wildlife Refuge in the fall and LOVED the fall foliage.  There’s a big concentration of bottomland hardwoods and swamp areas!  It was really awesome!  There was a really nice loop that you could drive around a vast majority of the park which was really nice, but there were lots of little pull outs and plenty of hiking opportunities, and even really easy boardwalk trails.  There were a lot of opportunities to watch for waterfowl, and they had a pretty nice visitor center with exhibits on the wildlife that occupy the Refuge.  After the day at Mingo, we went to the nearby Lake Wappapello State Park, which was gorgeous, but we didn’t stay for very long.  I can’t wait to go back and hike again!
