This past weekend I went to Montauk State Park with my friend Stacey for a little hiking trip. It’s a really pretty park and it’s in the middle of nowhere. I got lost twice going up and twice coming back home. It’s a bit tricky at times- my iPhone even took me down this dirt/gravel road totally off the beaten path.
However, our hike was a lot of fun and very fun. I love getting to see Stacey, since she lives about 3 hours away now I’m very glad when I get to spend time with her.
At the end of our hike was a fish hatchery. It was really interesting to see. There was a “pool” with a bunch of tiny fish and then two “pools” filled with full-grown trout. They were completely crammed in there- I’ve never seen anything like it! (Sorry, I know the picture isn’t super clear.)
This park was pretty, but I don’t think that I would recommend it to someone who wasn’t passing that way. It was fairly difficult to get to and we went to go hiking and there were only three hiking trails. The one we took was the longest and it was only 3 miles round trip. I heard that it’s a really good spot for fishing. So, if you’re a fan of fishing you might give it a shot. However, it was fun to spend the day hiking with my dear friend Stacey.
