Reykjavik Street Art: A Photo Essay

One of the things that Reykjavik is well-known for are the many murals that grace the walls of their buildings. Some are massive + popular, while others are found in unexpected places. I really enjoyed this extra dose of uniqueness in Iceland’s capital. Everywhere we stopped, we found splashes of color or incredible works of art. So, I thought as an intro to Reykjavik (city post coming next) I would share a photo essay of some of my favorite Reykjavik street art with you.

This photo essay is just a taste of the creativity, the bright colors, and the beauty of Reykjavik. Be sure to check back for my more in-depth guide of this stunning city later this week.

I always love photo essays and I really enjoyed this street art one. For some reason, the octopus with guns that said, “So sorry” made me laugh for some reason. I also like the Mafia Crew one because it sounds cool. Great photography as always!

Thanks, Gina! I love photo essays as well, but find that I don’t do them often. Thanks for checking mine out. The octopus with the guns made my husband laugh for some reason too – so you’re not alone! Thanks for reading and complimenting my photography; I really appreciate it! xx

I didn’t know Reykjavik has so much art on the streets. I love them and at times it’s fun to just stand and try to ‘read’ them.

Coming from Brooklyn, I take it for granted that there’s going to be street art everywhere. Then I travel and remember that’s really not the case! Reykjavik really does have exceptional street art.

A totally different perspective of Iceland. Street art is a great medium to understand the character of a place and it is so fascinating. The street art of Reykjavik is unique and somehow seems to capture the essence of ‘Fire and Ice”. A shout out to the unknown creative geniuses who have shaped the art.

All of these photos make me so crazy happy. I used to be such a street art hater and now well-into my 20s, I’ve grown to really love the free art exhibits. Thank you for sharing Paige 🙂 I love your photographs!

I am a huge fan of street art. It can really change the look and vibe of a location. I have never been to Reykjavik and while I have heard so many great things about this city I have never heard about the art found there. Nice to know this city has an artistic flare to it.
