Wanderlust Wednesday- Snail Mail

I have always loved receiving postcards from my friends and family telling me about their adventures in different places whether it’s in the U.S. or in other countries (some of which I’ve done Wanderlust Wednesday posts about), but I’ve recently joined a group called The Snail Mail Collective, and it’s a group of women from different countries who write letters to each other.  One woman is organizing this, and it has ended up being an amazing source of inspiration from different countries!  It has been a blast and I love finding out more about these women, and getting to see peeks into their lives and the countries in which they live based on photos, postcards, and the letters they send!  I highly recommend getting together with some of your blogging or Instagram friends and getting connected and send your address with people when they travel to have them send you a post card; it’s a really great way to learn more about other people, cultures and countries.  Plus, it’s great to receive these little bits of inspiration when you’re stuck at home!

Had pen-pals when I was in high school – loved those letters & photos from far away. The internet has changed things, but I still have those letters…

The internet has changed things, and I think that’s why we especially appreciate this little club we have going. It’s so much more fun to have this tangible object with little pieces of the person who sent it! Thanks for reading and commenting! Glad you can relate and have great memories from it!

I love snail mail! Now that all my friends and I have graduated from college and live in different parts of the USA/world, we all love mailing letters to each other! What a wonderful idea : )

That would be a lot of fun to start with just your group of friends, but have each person invite a few others to join in for extra variety and you’d get to know more people! It’s been so much fun getting to know these women through their letters! Thanks for reading!

Sounds like something I would like to do. How does one link up to this woman’s group……just find the snailmailcollective website?

It isn’t a website, it’s through Instagram. They have a private group. If you have an Instagram follow me and I can get you added to the wait list. Our group is managed by one woman and she has been trying to keep the numbers fairly low or for someone to start their own branch because she organizes our letter exchanges.

Snail mail is always delicious to receive. I still have letters I was sent years ago when I was still a student by some of my more eloquent friends. I treasure them. Some of the more creative included little sketches and exquisite calligraphy. I think this idea of finding like minded friends to correspond with sounds excellent!

It is so much fun, and they’re great things to save! I love this club because they’re women I don’t know, and I love getting to know them through this! Thanks for reading!

I’ve had pen pals since a school project years ago and I still have three that I’ve written to for about 15 years. Each piece of mail really is, like you say, receiving little bits of inspiration. The pics of the snail mail you posted are particularly beautiful though!

Thanks for reading! These women definitely make some gorgeous bits of snail small! I bet those are really fun to look back on and see what you’ve written about for the past 15 years! That is so cool!
