Wanderlust Wednesday- The Secret Life of Walter Mitty

Secret

I went to see The Secret Life of Walter Mitty just after Christmas, and since I was getting ready to embark on my own adventure (that, and my general obsession with travel) I was really inspired by this film.  I just got back earlier this week even more inspired, and decided to watch this again to do a post about and I cried- literally.  The tagline in the photo above says it all- “Stop dreaming, start living“.  I was so inspired by every part of this movie.  Not only are there amazingly beautiful shots of Iceland and the Himalayas, but the story is one that everyone, on some level and for whatever personal reason, wishes they could do.

Walter Mitty has a really vivid imagination, but finds that he’s never realized any of these daydreams.  He had always wanted to travel right after high school, and didn’t get the chance to.  However, due to a work situation Walter decides to drop everything and take off to find a photographer, and ends up finding himself.

Travel is one of those amazing things that just changes your life if you let it.  I have learned this, as I know many of you have and I think that this film is a spectacular example of take that step, doing the things you love, and finding yourself while getting lost!

Now that you recommend it I will watch that movie. It looks like the same thing as Forrest Gump, but is different.

It’s similar, I suppose, to Forrest Gump, but these are actual dreams that he’s had and you watch him accomplish them. It’s totally worth it! Thanks for reading; I hope you like it!

I just watched this movie and I was so surprised I LOVED IT. I didn’t think much of it but man it really made want to drop everything and take off with my camera! Just pack a light back and go.
