I had never been to either of the Carolinas, but within the first week or so of my trip, I managed to make it into both! When I crossed into South Carolina, I was so elated to not only have made it to 49 of the 50 states, but I have also driven to all of those 49 states! So cool! Now, I only have Hawaii left!
I stayed in Beaufort with my cousins, and really enjoyed some of the natural beauty of this state! My first night there, we went out and got pizza, so we could spend an evening vegging and relaxing, but the second we pulled back up to their house, the sun was setting, and I wanted to go see what it looked like over the water, and it was amazing!
The next day Ellen, the boys and I went to Hunting Island State Park (the post will be up very soon), and after that Ellen told me that the tree that Jenny and Forrest play, swing and sit on in the movie Forrest Gump is actually in Beaufort, so I had to go see it!
Now, it has been 20 years since that movie was filmed, so this tree looks a bit different from the film, but it was still so huge and unbelievably beautiful! I really wanted to climb way up on this tree, but I realized really quickly that I’m not as agile as I once was! It was so much fun to be able to play around on this beautiful piece of nature!
We explored a bit more of the Beaufort coastline. It was really beautiful and I’m so glad that I made Beaufort a stop on my trip. I would love to return when it’s warmer and take better advantage of the beaches and outdoor activities!
