February has been another month of ups and downs. While I am an insanely fortunate woman, and I am no stranger to that fact, life is also hard for all of this, and this month brought a great loss for me as well as tons of beautiful moments. Life is beautiful and precious.
Travel Planning This Month
This month has been less about travel planning because I spent half of the month in Argentina. Because of that, I was very much preparing for that trip or living in the moment of the adventure.
Travel This Month

This month my dad and I finally took our long-awaited Patagonia trip. It was 14 days with my dad in Argentina. We hiked, whitewater rafted, trekked on a glacier and just had the all-around best trip. We went on a small tour with some of the sweetest, most incredible people. It was life-changing, it was beautiful and I’m so happy I got to experience this with my dad. We explored the nature between El Calafate and El Chalten and loved both towns. Then, on our way back home, we also did a walking tour in Buenos Aires on our 22 hour layover. We just had the best trip and I can’t wait to share all about it as soon as possible! My intro post should be coming later this week.
Travel Laughs and Mishaps in February
We had flight delay after flight delay en route to Argentina, and one flight delay on the way home. Plus, the airport in Buenos Aires told me just before getting on our flight to Houston that they could not find my bag. It was not on the plane – because they had held it overnight while we had our 22 hour layover in Buenos Aires. Then lo and behold, though, it popped right up in Houston. So, I was annoyed for about an hour mentally calculating how much over my traveler’s insurance I’d have to spend since it was all my hiking clothes, but all for nothing.

While whitewater rafting, we hit a rock, hard, sideways and all four of us on that side were thrown from the raft, which immediately ramped up the adventure of it all. I was in the back of the boat, but was pushed downriver by the current to get pulled in at the front of the boat a couple of minutes later. It was exhilarating and terrifying. Luckily, no one was seriously injured, just some bumps and bruises, including a pretty gnarly one somehow on my underarm.
I had a 911 bathroom incident in El Calafate and we were on a walk around the lake, but I managed to make it to a decently nice restaurant where I asked to use their restroom, which they generously allowed me to use, even though we weren’t eating there. Unluckily for me, there was no tp or paper towels. So I had to use receipts from my purse. But that’s not even the best part. My sweet, sweet dad tried to learn Spanish, but is famously terrible at it. So, he was trying to say thank you or sorry, or something, but what he said instead, was “Por favor! Por favor! Por favor!” standing right in front of this baffled man. So, as I’m running to the bathroom I’m shouting over my shoulder, “You’re saying please!” So my sweet dad was over there begging this man for something that he couldn’t figure out. When he heard me say that, everyone working at the restaurant had a good laugh at my dad.
Local Adventures This Month

We took the kids to the local zoo this month, I did a couple of greenway trails and Matt and I tried a restaurant that we’d not been to before: Corner 21. Plus, on my monthly girls day with Kate and Shea, we went to a restaurant I’d never been to called Billy Gails.

Quote of the Month

If you want your life to be a magnificent story, then begin by realizing that you are the author and every day you have the opportunity to write a new page.
Best Thing I Ate in February
The Bife de Chorizo at La Tapera in El Chalten, Argentina was so hard to beat. The steak was cooked so perfectly and the chimichurri served with it was just topnotch. I ate every single bite of it.

An exceptionally close second, though, was the ossobuco at Rancho Aparte in El Calafate, Argentina. A small in-home experience with a wonderful chef with a huge personality. It was absolutely delicious.
What I Read in February

I finished Thirst: 2,600 Miles to Home. While I did enjoy the substance of it, for me, it wasn’t the most captivating memoir I’ve read. It’s been very popular and Heather Anderson accomplished something incredible. But it wasn’t quite as inspiring as I was expecting. I’ve been reading Finding the Mother Tree next, I’m not super far into it, but I am looking forward to getting further into it.
As far as my audiobook journey goes, it’s been another month of Audible freebies. None have stood out as books I’d truly recommend. I think I may start biting the bullet and paying for books I’m more excited about.

Things to Know Before Driving Shafer Trail in Canyonlands National Park, Utah – We’ve driven this off road trail three or four times now and I’ll probably drive it every time I’m in Moab. These are the things to know before you do it, though.
Wild Motherhood Journey
My wild motherhood journey this month was very heavy on just simply getting outside. And specifically, letting them play outside without intense supervision. Just opening our windows and letting them play in our fenced in yard, peeking out on them. It’s been great for them exploring, feeling independent and for working out issues on their own if they get in little spats. I did take CJ on a mama-daughter hike that made my heart really happy. I love watching her explore and loved her little quote of, “I’m the most adventure-est girl out there.”
Taking Care of Myself in 2026
This was a trickier month for this, simply because we were so busy. Between birthday celebrations, travel and the death of my grandpa, I didn’t have as much time to take care of myself as I wish I did. But, even that – seeing and acknowledging that, is something I wouldn’t have seen in the past, and I foresee March being a much easier month to take care of myself in.

I will say, I was outside a ton, and challenging myself a ton. These are both things that give me a lot of fulfillment. Plus, I finally got my 4Runner, which means you can expect some more posts about off-roading dirt roads in the very near future.
Home and Life in February

Charleigh Jo turned 5 this month. And, in addition to her looking older, I think she also seems a little more mature. She’s more centered and level, but still our sweet, sassy and adventurous little one. I’m so proud of her and I love being her mama.
We lost my grandpa this month and it hit hard and it hurt. He is where I get my wanderlust and nature-loving genes from. He visited all 50 states, most of them multiple times. He loved animals, but especially birds. He started the greenhouses that inspired my dad to start his own, which I loved being part of for 25 years of my life. He left a hole in our family, but we carry a piece of him in all of our hearts.
What’s Coming in March

In March I turn 36. I think in the last year, I have finally hit the realization that I’m not 22 anymore. I look older, I feel older and yet, I think I’m the most confident and settled I’ve ever been. I am excited to see what this year brings me.
Also, March starts our camping season. We’ll be kicking it off with a long birthday weekend in Ponca. Then we’re going on a spring break trip to, wait for it… Amarillo, Texas. Everyone laughs when I say this, but in reality, we’re going to Palo Duro Canyon State Park. And my parents are going too! We love a trip with Mimi and Papa. And, I’m hoping to end the month with a little car camping trip with CJ.
Lastly, on March 6th, I’ll be launching my first trip with TrovaTrip! I’ll be hosting a girls only trip to Ecuador in September! I’d love for you to come with me! If you’re interested, drop your info here to be the first to access your spot on this trip and learn more about this trip and future trips! I’d love to travel with you!
Spring is right around the corner. It’s a time for rebirth, reawakening, and inspiration.
I hope that March is beautiful for you.
