I’m not gonna lie, in my 20s I swore off group travel after I had a not-so-good experience in Europe. But this year, I took a group trip with my dad to Patagonia and I fell in love with the experience all over again realizing that now, in my 30s, I was finding so much more out of group travel. I loved it so much that I’m now hosting group trips all over the world, and, to be honest, it’s changing my life! I’m learning things in a whole new way, traveling with a beautiful community and forging friendships in whole new ways. As a traveler, and as a host, here are 8 reasons you should take a group trip!
It Can Help You Build Confidence

Traveling can be intimidating. Especially if you’re new to it, traveling to a country you don’t speak the language or even traveling solo. Of course, there’s the feeling of safety in numbers. But also, aside from actual “safety” you just see others doing it too! You’re not alone in feeling silly as you botch a word in Spanish. You watch the way others move in the world and you realize that you can do it too! And, beautifully enough, on this trip you are doing it!
You Can Plan As Little As You Want

One of the biggest pros of taking a group trip is the knowledge that you can simply just show up. Like, seriously. All you have to do is get to the hotel on day one (sometimes you can do a hotel pickup with this too) and from then until the end of the trip you just have to be where they tell you to be. Obviously, some trips have a lot more free time built into them that require a bit more planning, but others are jam-packed. I’ve done both and each has its own perks.
You Don’t Have to Worry About Transportation on the Tour
Getting from one destination to another is never easier than it is on a group trip. Even if it’s public transport, they’ve booked your tickets, they’ve made the arrangements, and no stress to you! Almost all of the group trips I’ve ever been on, though, provide a private bus. Sometimes this is where a lot of bonding happens, sometimes bus drivers are just as much part of the fun of tour as the guide, and you know what to expect!
You Have a Community Built Into the Trip
Of course, not every person is going to completely jive with every other person. But you don’t have to be best friends with everyone, however, each of you already have something in common because you’re on that trip! The vibe of my groups is empowerment and community! I want a group filled with positivity, cheering others on, and being kind. As long as you’re into that, you automatically have a little community in this trip. And, if you’re lucky like I’ve been, you even get lifelong friends out of it!
If Something Goes Wrong, You Have Someone There to Help You

Obviously, the goal is nothing goes wrong, but having someone “in charge” in the form of a local guide, means that they know who to contact, where to go, what to do should something go wrong. This and travelers insurance mean you’ve got two aces in up your sleeve.
Local Guides Mean Unique, Local Experiences

While the itinerary is important and the things on it are why you signed up for this trip, sometimes the local guide has something different and even more fun or unique in mind. On my trip to Patagonia, we switched our last meal from a meh restaurant to a friend of the guide’s farm-to-table restaurant based in his home. In Argentina, our guide made several roadside stops for us to have sugarcane alcohol shots, tangerines and even to eat fried grubs. Things we wouldn’t have stopped at, let alone even known they were there.
You Can Still Be Incredibly Independent Before, After and Even During the Trip

This is most true when there’s more free time in the trip, but obviously if there’s an activity you’re uninterested in, you can skip it – as long as it doesn’t interfere with the movement of the group, you don’t even have to go on the bus. Also, if you’re looking for travel on your own time or to add things to the trip that weren’t on the itinerary, tack on an extra day or two at the beginning or the end of the trip.
It’s Just Really Freakin’ Fun

I can’t speak for everyone, but I have to say, that the last two group trips I took or hosted (both of them this year in 2026), were so freaking fun! I made friends that I genuinely feel will be part of my life (whether distantly because we live far apart, or closely because we live in the same city) for the rest of my life. I forged such specific, beautiful, and deep connections with so many people. And the group I hosted to Ecuador, our guide literally said we were the craziest group she’d ever had because we were all laughing so hard all of the time! THIS is the vibe. THIS is why group travel is worth it!
Okay, So Here’s the Big Question – Want to Travel with Me?
I mentioned above that I am now hosting group trips, and, guys, it’s the greatest work I’ve ever done. I am obsessed with travel and all the things it’s given me, and the fact that I get to share that with others?! Dream. Come. True. I got to take a group of 13 women to Ecuador and it changed me on a molecular level to get to explore and adventure with these women.
So, Where Am I Going in Next?
I currently have two trips that are live and open and another that I have an early bird link for!

PERU AUGUST 1-8, 2027 I have a trip to Peru to take the Salkantay Trek through the Andes, explore Machu Picchu, and tour Cusco! Talk about the ultimate Incan Adventure! This trip is open to anyone and everyone regardless of gender (I host some women-only, empowerment events/trips) and the only restrictions are whether or not you feel like you’re up for a multi-day trek through the Andes!

CHRISTMAS MARKETS IN ESTONIA, LITHUANIA AND LATVIA (NOVEMBER 30TH TO DECEMBER 7TH) – This trip is going to be so magical! I love Christmas. It’s my favorite time of year, and visiting a Christmas Market has been on my bucketlist as long as I’ve known that they exist! While I initially wanted to go to German ones (and maybe someday I’ll get to those too) I discovered that the Baltic Christmas markets are supposed to be less commercialized, more intimate and much quieter. So, a more authentic experience. I also love a winter trip in Europe because the atmosphere just feels extra special! So, come experience the most wonderful time of the year with me!
PATAGONIA in MARCH of 2028 – This trip is in the pre-launch stages. Feel free to comment on this post, send me an email or DM me on social media to get an early bird link to this trip!
So, What Do You Think? Is Group Travel for You? Have You Tried It?
