Trip Planning This Month
This month we’ve started digging a little deeper into our California Trip plans. We’ve had our route down and accommodation booked for quite some time, but this month we started looking into the hikes we’re wanting to do in the national parks we’ll be visiting. We also have started filling out the forms and such to get our little ones their passports, and I’m trying to get the route down to Big Bend and back finalized for next March as well. We’ve learned that campgrounds sometimes fill up quickly, so it requires a bit more planning. Lastly, we booked a trip to Tulsa in December to do some fun Christmas Light fun!
Travel This Month
We spent the first weekend of the month down in Fayetteville and Rogers, Arkansas. We took the camper down and had a full day Saturday down there. The main reason we were down there was for my first appointment for my half sleeve because our artist moved down there, but she’s so very worth drive. While I was being tattooed for 7 hours, Matt and the kids hung out at the campground and explored this really fun construction site themed park! Plus, on my break, we walked down to a very cozy coffee shop just down the street from the tattoo studio. After my session, we walked a bit in downtown Fayetteville and had dinner and dessert from two food trucks that we enjoyed on our first wedding anniversary. But also, the kids had their first visit to Waffle House.
My dear friend Alaina and I spent a day in Fayetteville and Springdale just going to a few breweries, eating delicious foods and popping in and out of shops. It was mostly about just hanging out while we were wandering around a city she hadn’t spent much time in. Mission accomplished – I love having such wanderlusty friends.
Speaking of adventures with Alaina, she and her parents hosted us for an incredible lake day! Her parents so sweetly opened their home to our family of four and were just so incredibly sweet to us! The kids, Alaina and I swam in the lake then we went for a boat ride that I think just might be the highlight of Charleigh’s entire summer. The day was filled with laughs, great conversation and togetherness. It was beyond perfect.
Travel Mishaps and Laughs This Month
My favorite travel laugh of the month comes from our lake day. Charleigh got to help “drive” the boat sitting on Scott’s lap, which was probably the highlight of her summer. We were idling in a cove when suddenly the boat jolted forward. We all turned to look at Scott and he said, “That was her!” Our smart little booger had figured out how to make us go faster and was impatient, so she just threw that throttle forward!

July 2022 – A Travel Roundup – A detailed look, just like this one, into July’s adventures.
Our Camping Weekend in Van Buren, Missouri – In mid-July we had a glorious camping weekend that happened to coincide cool weather. It was just so much fun! We hiked to some of my favorite natural sites in the state, spent quality time together and just had one of those weekends where all seemed right.
Things We’ve Learned as First Time Camper Owners – This is one of my favorite posts of the year. We’re 6 months into camper ownership and we’ve collected all the lessons that we’ve learned on to you guys. This is full of tips, tricks and favorite products we use in our camper.
I Can Be Brave – A bit more personal in nature, this post is about a sweet lesson I learned alongside my beautiful little daughter on our lake day with Alaina and her parents.

Best Thing I Ate This Month
The taco al pastor I had from Taqueria Done Guero in Springdale, Arkansas with Alaina. They were super tasty and gave me some Mexico City wanderlust in the very best way.
Life Updates in August
There weren’t really any major life developments, but we spent a lot of great quality time with friends and family. We had friends over for dinner, went to other friends’ houses and our babies all played together. We’ve just spent a lot of time soaking up time with our community, which is so precious.
One thing that stands out at the end of the month, though, is that my dad and I got matching tattoos, his first ever, done by one of my very best friends! (My brother is getting one today too!) They represent our relationship. I call my dad “Papa Bear”, hence the bear outline and my dad has instilled our love for nature, the national parks and hiking in us. Allicyn sweetly drew Angels Landing as the main mountain in it. A hike my brother and I have both done separately with my dad. I’m obsessed and can’t wait to see Cory’s.
What’s Coming in September?
We have a camping trip planned at the beginning of the month to kick off one of my favorite months of the year down in Ponca. Then, the next weekend, I have my second – and hopefully last – session on my half sleeve down in Rogers, but we won’t be making a camper trip out of that one. My dad and I have our annual father/daughter hiking trip next month as well, to a state park in Oklahoma that neither of us have ever visited before. The biggest travel excitement of the month, however, will be that we’re heading out on our 18-day road trip to California! I cannot wait! The things we’ll see are going to be spectacular and the main purpose is going to my cousin’s wedding!
I hope you all had the greatest August and have some beautiful moments ahead as the seasons change in September.
