Devil’s Courthouse

I have had my eye on this mile-long hike for a while, but since I knew my dad was coming, I held off for almost three months so that I could share it with my favorite hiking-partner. The legend has it that the devil holds court in the cave on this mountain. Whether or not that is true, I can say for a fact that it offers truly amazing views of the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina and all the way to South Carolina, Georgia and Tennessee!

My mom is a bit afraid of heights, so she stayed down at the bottom, and my dad and I did the climb up to the top! She took some really cool pictures of the two of us up at the top, and he and I spent some time just sitting on the wall up there taking in the beauty that surrounded us from every direction.

After Devil’s Courthouse, we went to pick blueberries at Graveyard Fields. When the sun started to set, we got back in the car and drove back towards Asheville, and along the way we got to see an incredible sunset… In fact, my first Blue Ridge Parkway sunset! It was incredible! To the west was the vivid sky, and to the east, everything was hazy and mystical. It was so amazing to see these views with my parents!
