Covid-19 has made it hard to travel. It squashed many, many trips in 2020 and now in 2021, fully vaccinated, I found myself ready to start at least dreaming again. We have a little one now, so our international trips will be on the back-burner, but that doesn’t mean that we’ve stopped dreaming. It’s no secret that we love digging into cultures different from our own and that is where I find my travel dreams these days.
Many of these places have been on the top of my list for years, but it seemed that different opportunities arose leaving me to simply dream. Luckily, different websites and bloggers are allowing me to feel like I’m still exploring, and you better believe I’m constantly on websites just waiting to find the perfect price on an air arabia booking or something of the like.
I wanted to share some of the places I’ve been dreaming of and why I’m putting them at the top of my list. You know, other than the fact that I just haven’t been there. Here are the top 5 places I’m daydreaming of currently.
Nepal
Nepal is that place that we had a trip planned for and it fell through. It hurts so much when I think about the fact that I missed the opportunity to trek to Annapurna’s Basecamp, to wander through Kathmandu’s temples and soak up the spirituality of the culture and the nature combined. Luckily, a search of air arabia booking has me feeling like this is something we’ll be able to experience sooner than later
Sri Lanka
Sri Lanka is a place that sits at the forefront of my mind at any given time. I had a professor in college that did most of his research on Buddhism in Sri Lanka and ever since hearing his stories and seeing his photos during lectures, the travel bug has latched on and never let up. I want to ride this train to Kandy, I want to see elephants in the wild and pick my own tea at plantations. My obsession with learning about Buddhism makes this a top spot as well.
Georgia
Georgia is one of those places that I want to visit, but I’ve also kept it as a bit of a mystery. Something to be discovered in the moment. I want to keep it that way, and I can’t wait to discover all the things that make it so amazing.
Turkey
The land where the East meets West is something I’ve always wanted to experience. From the mosques + churches of Istanbul, to riding a hot air balloon over Cappadocia to soaking in natural hot springs. Turkey seems like a destination that will appease my culture junkie and nature-lover all at once.
India
India is another one of those destinations I feel like I have loved before I’ve even arrived. The culture. The food. The scents. The landscapes. The markets. The temples. The trains. I want to see it all!
It feels so good to be able to dream of travel again. There is truly so much to see and experience and I hope that everyone is able to do so very, very soon! Stay safe, stay sane and keep dreaming, wanderers.
This is a collaborative post.
