Exeter Corn Maze – The Most Fall-Fun I’ve Had in Missouri

Last weekend, we made the day trip down to Exeter, Missouri to visit the Exeter Corn Maze. My brother and sister-in-law have been before and invited us to go with them and holy cow I’m so glad that we did! We definitely have a fall tradition in the making because this was hands-down the most fall-time fun I’ve ever had in Missouri, or really anywhere else so far.

Exeter is a small town with a lot of farmland and a population of less than 800 people. But nestled here between rolling hills and farm houses is the Exeter Corn Maze. Honestly, from outside the gates, it didn’t look like it was that big. It seemed like it might be a slightly overpriced funzone, but the whole point was to do things as a family: my brother, his wife and two nephews were who invited us, so we didn’t mind giving it a go once… it’s a must every year now.

Our Experience at Exeter Corn Maze

We went right at open on the second Sunday of their season and it was the perfect time to go. Exeter Corn Maze wasn’t insanely crowded at all. We’ve since seen pictures of it full and busy a little closer to Halloween! We obviously loved the lack of crowds and ability to truly walk on to anything we wanted! We will be going at this time next year too!

The whole place is setup in the cutest, I hate to say it but most “Instagrammable” way! There are adorable displays and decor around every single corner. We started out in the Corn Pit because we were nervous it might get crowded. So, we headed that way. The Corn Pit is essentially a sandbox, but instead of sand, it’s filled to the brim with corn kernels! It’s definitely a different sensation, but our crew of kiddos loved it, aged from 10 months to 5 years! Matt, Charleigh and I did a little zipline since there was no line before we moved on to the giant pumpkin trampoline things. Matt, of course, being the biggest kid of the group was jumping so intensely that our kiddos and even Kelsey were all tumbling. Haha.

After watching a couple animatronic displays they have, we rode some rides. We started with riding the carousel a couple of times before we moved on to the drop ride. I was amazed that they had a drop tower! It seats 10 at a time, so I imagine that if you have a line it would go fairly quickly. Charleigh got to ride for the first time and she had mixed reviews, but ended up saying it was fun! The last ride we did was the Pumpkin Cups! This Mama is a little too old to do that more than once, though – too much spinning!

Other activities we took part in inside the Barnyard were watching the Pig Races, watching Paxton the Pumpkin Eating Dragon (which, honestly, was the only letdown in the place), visiting the petting zoo riding the massive slide, peeking in the boutique, barn swings and letting the kids ride the train! We even repeated a few of the activities because there were literally no lines, the weather was beautiful and we were just having so much fun!

In addition to these activities you can visit the Corn Maze – which we didn’t do because of our strollers, maybe next year when the two littlest are older, the Apple Orchard – we picked a bushel of apples for only $5, the pumpkin patch – Charleigh got a sweet mini pumpkin for only $1 and you can go into the sunflower field and pick blooms for a small additional fee.

All-in-all we left feeling truly filled to the brim with fall joy. We had the best time and got so lucky with such a beautiful day. The only thing that I felt like they were missing is apple cider or apple cider treats. They had a lot of really fun foods like BBQ, walking tacos and churros, but I missed more of the fall foods. Overall, though, I give this experience a 10/10 and would say it’s 100% worth the cost of admission.
