Family Road Trip to Texas- (Day One) - For the Love of Wanderlust
Today my dad, mom, brother, my mom’s two dogs and I departed at 6 a.m. My family is notorious for our road trip adventures whether it’s falling off a huge hill in Alaska, driving through a wall of flames in Ohio, or getting lost in terrifying neighborhoods bringing my dad to tears. The last real road trip that was just family- where we could let our freak-flag fly- was in 2001. (Why, yes, that is me in the completely lime-green outfit) Call me old-fashioned or just full of nostalgia today, but I pictured us singing our classic road trip songs of “Found A Peanut”, “My Gal’s a Corker”, and “The Buzzard Song”, or playing “The Alphabet Game”. However, since my brother is now 25 and I’m 21 it was really different. My mom wrestled her two spoiled yorkies, my dad stressed about the insane Texas traffic, Cory played on his iPhone, and I read the 6th Outlander book! Today was a long day of driving (13 hours from MO to TX). Our first stop was in Dallas where we ate at In-N-Out Burger. No one else had been there before so they all had their first one.
