Getting My Kicks in Seligman, Arizona (Old Route 66) - For the Love of Wanderlust
Last week I found myself in the city of Seligman, Arizona. It was a city that until I decided to hike Havasu Canyon I had never heard of, and the only reason I heard about it then is that I was forced to drive through it to get to Havasu Canyon. However, when we pulled off the interstate, on to Old Route 66 and into Seligman I realized that this was a cool little town. It was totally a tourist destination and only a place that you could spend a day or an evening, but I had a lot of kitschy charm to it. We stayed at the Stagecoach 66 right as you enter town, and it looks just like all of those old pictures you see of Route 66 with the fun, brightly colored sign and the outdoor entrances to all the rooms. The hotel was very reasonably priced ($50-ish) and the rooms were very clean and the manager was really helpful and accommodating. They offered hot chocolate, coffee and pastries in the morning for breakfast and it was a fun experience being in that hotel.
