Our Kauai Helicopter Tour with Jack Harter Helicopters

The majority of these photos were taken by my awesome husband because I was between him and our pilot due to weight distribution and he could photograph out the open side. Thanks, Matt, for doing a great job! *

As a wedding gift, my dear friends Faye + Gene did loads of research, made calls and booked us the most incredible gift a Kauai helicopter tour. It was the top-rated tour in all of Kauai: a doors-off helicopter tour with Jack Harter Helicopters. Neither of us had ever been on a helicopter ride, so we were both a little bit nervous and not really sure what to expect. It turns out that it was absolutely the most amazing experience I’ve ever had in the air!

It felt so strange taking off. I thought it felt a little out of control for just a moment, but that was almost part of the amazing freedom of feeling the wind.

Our guide + pilot, Brad, was amazing. He was confident, knowledgable and easy-going which made me feel super comfortable in the air.

This is the Jurassic Park waterfall – ya know, from the first one where they land on the island! How cool is that?! [I was constantly singing the Jurassic Park score while exploring this island.

Getting down in Waimea Canyon. That was pretty incredible to get to see it up close since we were going to be exploring on foot in the next few days.

The Na Pali Coast – probably one of my most favorite natural sites I’ve seen in the entire world!

I loved seeing the waterfalls that flow right into that stunning turquoise ocean.

The massive storm that had come through the night before made, as our pilot Brad said, “A cornucopia of waterfall.” He said he hadn’t seen this many waterfalls in a long time. I bet we saw at least 100 falls throughout the hour-long ride over the island.

It’s the second-wettest place in all of the world – it rains here every day of the year and gets an average rainfall of 450 inches each year.

The record number of inches, however, was 683 inches! Holy cow!

We were two VERY satisfied flyers and it has started a new obsession. I’d love to fly over as many incredible places as I can. If you find yourself wanting to take a Kauai helicopter tour, I cannot recommend Jack Harter enough and if you can, ask for Brad because he made us feel comfortable in the air and was so sure to point out the many incredible sites to see flying above and around the Garden Isle.

Wow, what an amazing wedding gift!! The photos your husband got are absolutely spectacular and I’m sure it was even better than the photos make it look. I’d love to do something like this one day!

That’s amazing! I’ve never been in a helicopter either, and I’ve always figured I’d be too nervous to go up in one, but your photos are so amazing – such a different Kauai experience than any I’ve heard of. Also, I had no idea Jurassic Park was filmed there. Very cool!

I’ve skydived in Hawaii and I found it absolutely stunning (yet terrifying!) Your hubby took some great photos, which makes me want to try out a helicopter ride!
