Maggie’s Farm and a Magical Lake in the Swedish Countryside

Liz and Lina’s friend Maggie invited us out to her farm for lunch and to swim in the lake near her house.  I’m not sure why, but in my head I had pictured a cow pond on a farm, and I wasn’t especially enthused about wading in a pond filled with cow poop, but I was up for lunch on sweet Maggie’s farm, so I went and I’m so glad that I did.

When we arrived at Maggie’s farm, she gave us a tour of her beautiful 100+-year-old home, showed us her beautiful, friendly and famous cows, let us see her late-husband’s wood-working shop and told us wonderful stories about her mother’s adventurous spirit over an incredibly delicious meal she prepared for us.

One of their friends surprised Liz and Lina and joined us on our trip to the lake.  We drove just a few miles down a gravel road, through a beautiful forest.  We parked on the side of the road, walked down a small path and found ourselves on a rock in front of a beautiful, fairly private lake. In-freakin’-credible!

We had fika & I napped on the rock, I walked through the forest and even faced my lake fears and swam in this absolutely beautiful.  It was such a great day full of conversation, experiences and magic in the Swedish countryside.

Beautiful pictures! Looks like the ideal, unspoiled Scandinavian countryside. And when the time comes to leave to leave you can sing “Maggie’s Farm” by Bob Dylan!

It was so beautiful, and I’m so glad that someone caught that… I was singing that in my head the whole time I was there!
