Asheville, North Carolina is a beer city. In fact, in the 5 years that they did Beer City, U.S.A it was named Beer City, USA 4 times and came in third the other year. It’s safe to say, we love our beer. Asheville is where I enjoyed my first beer and have since become a beer lover! So, of course, Oktoberfest was something I am so glad to have been able to attend!
14 local breweries set-up booths with kegs of amazing beers on tap. The tickets on the day-of were $40, and that included a 1/3-pint-ish-sized stein that you took to all the different booths and you can fill it up as many times as you want/or can stand! Ha!
There was a live performer with traditional German songs, there were games for the crowd to play and a ton of fun people!
Our cute little steins filled with our first taste of beer!
Highland Brewing Company gave us the awesome pretzel necklaces to cleanse our palate and get a little something on our bellies. They even put some SlimJims on it for a nice little treat!

We all enjoy different types of beer, so it was fun to get our favorites but still get sips of the others!
We went in the Funkatorium (Wicked Weed’s new sours tasting room) and we were impressed with the look of it for sure!
Just BEer Yourself- teehee
Taking a break to sit and watch the breweries compete against each other at the Oktoberfest Games.
This man was writing poems for people on the spot and they were great!

At the end of Octoberfest there was a booth to get a breathalyzer test done and Liz REALLY wanted to do it! So of course, she’s drinking water while Lina and I play up the fact that we’re still drinking beer! We all ended up doing the breathalyzer and after drinking the same amount Liz was the only one good to drive, and I had no business getting behind the wheel! Good thing we could walk to dinner!
If you are in the area when it comes time for Oktoberfest you HAVE to stop and come here. I can’t wait to attend next fall!
