The Crazy House – Da Lat, Vietnam

I heard about the Crazy House just before getting to Da Lat. It’s about a 15 minute walk from the main streets of town past small neighborhoods, busy streets and brilliant flowers. Tucked back into one of those neighborhoods is the Crazy House Hotel. (Da Lat is a mountain town so the strolls here are much more enjoyable as the air is cool and is a great break from the heat & extreme humidity of Hanoi & Hoi An.) For less than $2 you can walk through this funky, half-completed hotel that looks like a massive work of art. You can walk through and look into the themed rooms that aren’t being occupied and walk through the crazy halls and tunnels and on top of the Crazy Hour. It isn’t a must-see, but if you have a free evening and are looking for something different to do, it’s worth the small entrance fee.

I loved the funky cobwebs, mushrooms and especially the tree-stump steps

One of the rooms in the Crazy House – they’re often animal or nature themed. Rooms run between $30 – $80. Not worth it if you’re on a budget. We had a massive private room with two beds and we paid $10 total ($5 a piece) for our much larger private room. However, if you love boutique hotels, it’s a steal!

Although it isn’t a must-see, it’s still fun, and for less than $2, why not?!
