Thankfully, we’ve done the hard work for you! Here are some of the best!

The Appalachian Trail is an extraordinary route, which stretches over 200 miles in Maine alone and over 2100 miles total! If you haven’t got much time, don’t worry. The first 30 miles of the trail in Maine is packed with highlights so you can cut down your trip without missing out. Along the way, you’ll spot dappled maple forests and rippling streams. You can also enjoy incredible vistas of the iconic Maine backcountry. The main event is Lower Wilson Falls where you can watch the torrents of water cascading down the rocks. If you’re a fan of fishing, take a trip to nearby Lower Wilson Pond.

Are you looking for a short, manageable trail that treats you to unbeatable views? If so, Cascade Mountain is the place to be. There are lots of different options in the area. But one of the best is a 4.2-mile trail that takes you to the summit of one of the 46 Adirondack High Peaks. You can enjoy the staggeringly beautiful view of the waterfall below. You’ll also see the Green Mountains and Lake Champlain in the background. If you’re based in New York, and you fancy a weekend away, this is a great option. Just a 4.5-hour drive away, you can escape the city and embrace the peace. If you’re a keen hiker, why not look into buying a new or used RV? You can hit the open roads whenever you like and leave the hustle and bustle behind.

West Maroon Creek Trail

Colorado is bursting with beautiful tracks, but it’s hard to beat West Maroon Creek Trail. This 10-mile hike will take you through the glacial valley before you scale the mountain pass. Looking out at over 12,000 feet, you’ll see Aspen and Crested Butte in all their glistening glory. In the winter, the snow scenes are stunning. Visit in July if you’re keen to see endless meadows filled with colorful wildflowers. If you’re a fan of winter sports, why not combine a hiking holiday with a few days on the slopes?

Angel’s Landing

On the Way Up

One of many highlights offered by Zion National Park, Angel’s Landing is a sight to behold. Carved in the burnt red rock, this 4-mile hike will reward you with breathtaking panoramic views. Watch the rumbling waters of the River Virgin before you attempt to conquer Walter’s Wiggles. This collection of switchbacks will test your stamina, but it’ll all be worth it when you reach the top. Zion is a fantastic place to camp. Pitch your tent before you set off so that you can relax and unwind afterwards.

The USA is one of the best places in the world to hike. There are routes for everyone. Choose gentle walk or trails that will push your physical and mental strength to the max. With these hikes, all the effort will be worthwhile when you take a look around you.

What a wonderful lineup — even if the photo of Angel’s Landing terrifies me a little bit (I see the handrail, but where are your feet supposed to go?). Thank you indeed for trimming down the list to your top picks.
