«Wanderlust Wednesday»

Happy New Year everyone! I wanted to finish off 2014’s Wanderlust Wednesdays with my travel goals 2014 update!

I visited two new states this year – granted, I went into the year knowing that I was visiting these states – but I got to go all over North Carolina when I moved there in June! The photo above is from my trip to Atlantic Beach with friends in late July!

I went into this year knowing that I was going to Germany, Austria, Switzerland & Liechtenstein! However, I didn’t realize when I made out my list of goals for the year, that I was also going to be spending a month in Sweden and hiking the Inca Trail with my best friend in Peru!

I love my father/daughter hiking trips that I get to take with my dad! We started this tradition in 2008 and I hope that we continue to hike together every year! This year, we went on a little trip to Arkansas, and then when my parents came to visit me in NC, we did several hikes, but this one – Devil’s Courthouse – was my favorite hike! I love getting to spend time with my dad and the great outdoors!

I started doing Wanderlust Wednesdays & Somewhere Saturdays to have a couple of weekly posts when I wasn’t traveling, but this year in struggling to keep the Wanderlust Wednesdays new and fresh, I’ve come up with some of my favorite yet!

Tales of a Female Nomad

I failed miserably on this one this year. I took my number down from 12 last year to 8, and I only managed to read 2 travel books! No bueno! But I truly enjoyed the two I read:

Tales of a Female Nomad

Turn Right at Machu Picchu

I didn’t quite make it to my goal of 100 hiking miles – which really disappoints me because I lived in the Blue Ridge Mountains for 7 months – I only made it to 87.6 miles.  However, I did get the 10 new hiking locations in, I actually got 11: Mammoth Cave National Park, Several hikes Off The Blue Ridge Parkway, Congaree National Park, Big Spring State Park, Onondaga Cave State Park, Ponca Arkansas Area, Mount Mitchell State Park, DuPont State Park, Chimney Rock State Park, bits of The Appalachian Trail and the Inca Trail.

I have had an incredible year being inspired by many people to keep traveling, to follow my dreams, to explore and to learn more about myself and about the world around me! I hope that I have been able to give a little bit of that back! Thank you so much for encouraging and supporting me over the last year! I can’t wait for 2015 and another year of adventures & writing!

Cheers to 2015!
