Vermont- Montpelier and More

IMG_1206

Vermont comes from the two French words vert (green) and mont (mountain), and I can’t think of two words that more perfectly describe this state. Vermont is one of those places that you pass into and you’re instantly calmed and relaxed. You can’t help it, it’s so tranquil and peaceful. Zach decided to go off the interstate for a while and we got “lost” in the green mountains. We came up on this beautiful lake with only one person there fishing. We were setting up our camera to take a picture of us with the lake, and the man came up to us and took the picture for us. We continued down these small winding roads until we finally met up with highway again.

We stopped in Montpelier, the nation’s smallest capital, for a walk around town and dinner. We looked in every used bookstore in the city, picking up a few good finds, and just walked around the downtown. Everyone we encountered was friendly and welcoming. We had dinner at Bagitos, a small cafe that played live music.

It was a really fun and relaxing stop. I would really love to go back to Vermont and spend some time hiking up here. Have you been to Vermont? What are must-sees up there?

Thank you for following along and commenting! I’m having a great time posting about our trip. We saw so many great things!

Thank you! I certainly think a lot of him. ๐Ÿ™‚ I think it has to be important to find a partner who loves to travel (for those of us with the travel bug). I’m glad you found one and I think you two are a great inspiration for people who have children! I love that you travel with your beautiful daughter!

That sounds amazing! We weren’t there long so we didn’t do any of the touristy things, I didn’t realize the Ben & Jerry’s factory was in Vermont! I just loved being surrounded by those beautiful green mountains. I would love to know what that lake was called. We didn’t have a lot of time in Vermont because we had a Couchsurfing host lined up in Montreal, but it’s a place that I definitely want to spend more time in. Thanks for reading and commenting!

I have only been to Vermont in the winter. My aunt & her family have a condo at a ski resort. It was so beautiful. Little New England towns, white churches, mountains, General stores. I was, as you said, totally relaxed! It’s always great to get off the highway for a bit, huh? ๐Ÿ™‚
