Asheville Bucket List 2014

As many of you guys know, I completely fell IN LOVE with Asheville, NC while on my road trip in January.  I’m not currently on my second trip back since my original stay, and I have officially decided that I’m moving here on July 5th!  It’s really exciting to move away for the first time in my life, and I’m looking forward to being in such an absolutely beautiful city!  Although, I have already done quite a few things in my three visits here, I have a whole bucket list of things that I want to do this year after moving here!  So, I thought for this week’s Wanderlust Wednesday I would make an Asheville Bucket List and share seven things I’m excited to do and see this year!

Great Smoky Mountains Railroad:

I think this would be a ton of fun!  I really want to ride the rails in the fall to see all of the amazing fall foliage!  There are a few different options of route to take, and I haven’t decided for sure which I would like to do, but I do know that I think this would be an absolute blast!

Asheville Art Museum:

I have a crazy fondness for art museums.  I always adore visiting different city’s museums.  I’m intrigued by local artist’s work displayed, art from other cultures and famous works of art!  I can’t wait to explore my future-home’s collection!

Beer, Beer and More Beer:

Asheville is famous for its beer scene.  It has proudly been dubbed “Beer City USA” over and over (2009-2012)!  I’ve visited a few different breweries so far, but I’d love to visit them all eventually!  Also, the last time I was here, I was downtown with Liz and Lina and we decided that we HAVE to try this amazing pubcycle at some point this summer!

LaZoom Tours:

Lina, Liz and Nick did a LaZoom Tour last fall, and they told me that it was an absolute blast!  This comedy tour is supposed to be a ton of fun!  They have a 13+ and a 17+ tour.  You can bring beer or wine on the tour, and I’ve heard you’re guaranteed to laugh!

North Carolina Arboretum:

I absolutely love public gardens, parks, etc.  My parents own a greenhouse and I adore working there because being around the flowers is so inspiring!  I love to see all of the creative ways that people put plants together to make something beautiful!  Besides all of the gardens there are over 10 miles of hiking/biking trails that I can’t wait to get on!

Basilica of Saint Lawrence:

This church looks absolutely amazing!  Liz has been visiting the basilica a lot lately, and as I’m typing this I can hear the bells going off in the church, I can’t wait to get lost inside this beautiful church!

Raft the French Broad River:

The last time I was here, Nick and I went driving through the mountains to Hot Springs.  While we drove along the river he was telling me all about when he was a raft guide in Asheville.  I’ve only rafted once, but I had so much fun!  So, I would really love to raft the French Broad River with Nick this summer!

I’m so excited about my upcoming move!  I have a few months until I move, but I’m going to enjoy this visit and start checking these off as I can!

Yes, the Biltmore! Especially at Christmas — decorations and trees all over the place! Very, very special.
