Wanderlust Wednesday – August Edition

This is the first of my revamped, monthly ‘Wanderlust Wednesdays’! I used to have one every week, but I started to get overwhelmed coming up with new material each week. So, I’ve decided to make it less stressful, therefore probably more enjoyable for my readers and do one big Wanderlust Wednesday filled with fun things to inspire you all month long! I hope you enjoy!

This month’s Wanderlust Wednesday feels a bit all over the place, with no real theme. That’s probably because I, myself, have been all over the place! I’ve been reading about nature, watching documentaries based in Asia, looking into some long-term US travel in the near future. All of this is happening while planning trips to D.C., North Carolina, Colorado, Iceland + Florida and I’m currently in Louisiana! See what I mean?! Want to know the beauty about that, though? It means that I’m feeling seriously inspired!

I know that these shows are not brand new, but they are shows that I have recently started watching and felt truly inspired by. The two examples today are both currently on Netflix.

I discovered this post while doing some planning for my upcoming trip to Iceland! I’m a massive nature-lover, so seeing this post of 15 STUNNING waterfalls to see on the island was very inspiring and made for a hefty start to my Iceland to-do list!

I really enjoyed this post by the Flyaway Girl about a Kanchanaburi, Thailand. I visited this city both before and after working at Safari Park, but I felt like I missed out on a lot of the history that she did a fantastic job explaining! Check it out!

Love the quotes. I love John Muir quotes, but I recently read a controversial expose on him and found it really interesting and it’s sort of shifted my perception of him. Anyway, thanks for the lovely quotes and inspiration!

Rock the Park sounds like my kind of show!! I haven’t heard of it and I have Netflix, so I’m pretty excited to see this. I’ve been exploring more National Parks the older I get, so this is right up my alley 🙂

Then this would be perfect for you! I don’t know how mainstream of a show this is – it comes on Saturday mornings in real time – but my dad found it and we have a shared love of the National Parks and he got me hooked! I hope you enjoy it!

That book does sound interesting. Recently, I’ve had an inclination to read compilation of stories in a book instead of one full-length story. I don’t know why, probably because it’s easier to take a break that way. Lol.

I totally understand that. I’ve not read many books this year, which is unlike me, but I think it’s because I haven’t had nearly as much spare time. The Essays were a great change of pace! Cheers!

What a great collection! I am going to Iceland next summer so I’ll definitely keep those waterfalls in mind. I love travel writing from the first half of the 20th century so I like Cornelia Otis Skinner and Richard Halliburton for travel quotes.

Nice! I’m going in February, but hoping that I’ll still be able to enjoy some of that amazing natural beauty! And thanks for the tip on some people for quotes for next time – I can’t wait to check them out! Cheers!

I saw the Dali Lama in Boulder about a month ago….and I say ‘saw’ because I couldnt actually hear a word that came out of his mouth because he talked too quietly! Kinda a big bummer but hey, I can always read the book lol!

Haha! That is a bummer! I found out that he was at a university event the day after. I was so bummed and I’m still not sure how I missed it considering I studied Eastern Religion + Anthropology! How did I miss that info?! Haha

It’s really great. I like it because they’re just two regular-acting guys. They’re not overly macho and they both have fears and are realistic about the things they’re doing and their struggles. I think you’ll like it!
