Yesterday I went to see the new Disney/Pixar movie “Brave” with my mother, and it got me thinking about all the great animated movies that instill a sense of wanderlust, and the best part is that we’re educating children to be adventurous! So, this week’s edition of Wanderlust Wednesday is all about animated movies. Brave (2012) This movie is very cute, and very inspiring. The heroine, Merida, is a princess, who doesn’t like acting like a princess. Instead she has an adventurous spirit. She rides her horse through the woods, climbs mountains and drinks from waterfalls. She is all about changing her fate so she can do all the things that she loves to do. She wants to live what she loves, and hopes her mom can come to terms with this. Up (2009) Talk about instilling adventure. This movie literally chants “ADVENTURE IS OUT THERE!” What a great lesson. I also love that this movie shows how even though, sometimes our adventures don’t turn out exactly how we want them to, they do teach us something, and give us memories we’ll never forget.
