» Words of Wanderlust «

I love words that inspire me to travel especially in times, like these, where I’m stuck (more or less) in one place planning adventures and saving money as best as possible for new adventures! I thought I would share some words of wanderlust that inspire me to keep saving and planning for memories that will last a lifetime – I hope you find them inspiring as well.

“I want a life measured in first steps on foreign soils and deep breaths in brand new seas. I want a life measured in welcome signs, each stamped with a different name, borders marked with metal and paint. Show me the streets that don’t know the music of my meandering feet and I will play their song upon them. Perfume me please in the smells of far away, I will never wash my hair if it promises to stay. I want a life measured in places I haven’t gone, short sleeps on long flights, strange voices teaching me new words to describe the dawn.”

-Tyler Knott Gregson-

Durrell

“All of us wanderers are made like this. A good part of our wandering and homelessness is love, eroticism. The romanticism of wandering, at least half of it is nothing else but a kind of eagerness for adventure. But the other half… is an unconscious drive to transfer and dissolve the erotic. We wanderers are very cunning, we develop these feelings that are impossible to fulfill; and the love that should belong to a woman we lightly scatter among small towns and mountains, lakes and valleys.”

“You have to be the kind of person who can make the best of a Tuesday. You know those people who live for the weekends? They’re wishing their life away. You have to find something worth living for or else you’ll look back and realize you’ve wasted your life away.”

Drew Marvin

Kerouac

“You get a strange feeling when you’re about to leave a place. Like you’ll not only miss the people you love, but you’ll miss the person you are now at this time and this place, because you’ll never be this way ever again.”

Azar Nafisi

Muir

“Wald with the dreamers, the believers, the courageous, the cheerful, the planners the doers, the successful people with there heads in the clouds and their feet on the ground. Let their spirit ignite a fire within you to leave the world better than when you found it.”

Wilfred Peterson
