A Monthly Recap: February 2023

Hello, hello! I hope everyone had a beautiful February! We had a decently cool month here in the Ozarks, but it was filled to the brim with activity! We had a pretty big life update, which we’ll get into more in this post and spent so much time with friends and family this month, which always fills my cup!

Travel & Trip Planning This Month

This was another month without much travel. We went back to Busiek, but this time with one of my dear friends on her first hike and Liam’s first hike out here as well! We still were a little timid about getting away with two kids, but we have definite travel on the books for next month, which is so, so exciting!

Now, we more than made up for our time not traveling with trip-planning! We bought a camper! We had to order a truck, what a weird-ass world car buying is now. So, it’s set to be built this week and we should get it late next month! But, we were able to have plenty of time to shop for things we needed for the camper and we’ve spent evenings out there cleaning and setting it up. Guys, we’re so excited! We’ve been making plans for this year, and we’re already thinking ahead to next year too!

To that point, most of our trip planning has been setting up our camper, which, there’s a lot more to it than I would’ve ever guessed. I’ll write a more detailed post on this soon, but let’s just say, a lot of the things that make you camper fully functional don’t actually come with the camper. Also, there are all the fun things to shop for to furnish the camper! We have our first campground booked for the very end of March/beginning of April, so hopefully next month’s recap will come from the road, provided our truck arrives on time!

Blog Posts From February

Moore Cove Falls Trail – Pisgah National Forest – This trail guide is to one of my new favorite easy waterfall hikes in the Asheville-area. It’s very family friendly and the forested trail is very dreamy in the spring.

Don’t Let Your Dreams Be Dreams – This is our big announcement post about our beautiful home away from home and the journey to finally pulling the trigger on this brand new adventure.

Breastfeeding While Road Tripping – Breastfeeding is a topic very near and dear to my heart. I breastfed my daughter for 15 months and am currently breastfeeding our son! I wanted to write this post so every breastfeeding mama can feel empowered to take that journey on the road.

Hawksbill Crag Trail (Whitaker Point), Arkansas – This is probably the most iconic trail in Northwest Arkansas and after hiking it at least half a dozen times, I decided it was probably time to write our trail guide!

Life Updates This Month

Charleigh Jo turned two and we celebrated with a hippie-themed “Two Groovy” birthday party. She looked super cute and we were so showered with love from our family and friends. It was such a special day!

Liam is now almost 4-months old and he’s rolling over back to front. He still has the sweetest demeanor and his giggles bring me lots of joy! We’re eager to watch his personality continue to grow!

We spent most of the month doing camper things in our spare time: researching, buying, washing, setting up! I’d be lying if I said I didn’t totally love the setup process, because I do!

We also finally got the reading nook in our house completed. It’s been a project that we started last fall, but we got it all put together. Matt built the bookshelves. We got this stunning wooden map from Enjoy the Wood and I just love this cozy space in the corner of our basement to snuggle up, read or work.

Travel Inspiration This Month

My girl, Millette over at The Next Somewhere went on a journey to Cuba and just finished blogging about it! Cuba is a dream destination of mine and her guide about traveling there as an American is not only so helpful but also inspirational because I would truly love to go!
Millette combines design, a love for travel and a fearless sense of adventure when it comes to food especially! She inspires me with her blog and Insta and I think she’ll inspire you too!

What’s Coming in March

Next month, I’ll turn 33, which is a little surreal that it’s the last year in my early-thirties! Time just flies faster every year. Also, the brewery I work for will celebrate the grand opening of their second location, which I’m so excited for! We had our first soft opening last night and it was so much fun! It’s amazing to get to love what you do in so many different facets of life.

I fell short of February’s monthly hiking goals, but I have a 20 mile goal for the month of March. I desperately need spring weather in my life!

March brings our first actual travel of the year. We’re going to Memphis in mid-March to celebrate my birthday a bit late. Then, the last day of the month, provided our truck gets here in time, we’ll be taking out camper out for the first time! Wish us luck!
