Buffalo Outdoor Center RV Park – A Campground Review

The Buffalo Outdoor Center RV Park is located just outside of Ponca, Arkansas and right in the throws of the Buffalo National River. We’ve stayed here a few different times now and admittedly fallen in love with it. As we travel more and more in our camper, it’s easy to see that not all campgrounds are made the same. So, we wanted to review each campsite that we frequent on the things we consider musts when we take our camping reservations.

The Campsites at Buffalo Outdoor Center RV Park

PULL THROUGH SITES – Every single site at Buffalo Outdoor Center RV Park is a pull-through site, which we love! Especially as newbies to backing a trailer, the easier the better.
FULL HOOKUP – We love a full hookup! For rookies, this means electric, fresh water and sewer are all located right there.
WHAT ELSE IS AT EACH CAMPSITE? Each of the campsites come with a picnic table, which is perfect for enjoying the view, the fresh air and, if you’re buddy-camping, fellow campers!

The Bathhouse Buffalo Outdoor Center RV Park

Although we don’t shy away from using our shower and bathroom in our camper, many people prefer to use the campground bathhouse. We definitely use them if our bathroom is otherwise occupied by another member of our family, so we still checkout and use the bathhouse. The bathhouse here is always impeccably clean, they’re spacious stalls and have a nice surface to hold your dry things while showering, if you use the shower as well. The bathhouse also has a laundry facility for anyone who would need access to that!

The Extras at Buffalo Outdoor Center RV Park

THE VIEW The view here is 10/10, especially from the lowest sites (especially site 7, but we’ve stayed at other sites and the view is always beautiful!) because there aren’t any other campers in view. However, the view is stunning no matter where you’re parked. It’s a mountain valley view with a beautiful old barn in the foreground. I never get tired of looking out at it. If you’re a fan of sunrises, this is the perfect spot to check one out!

THE LOCATION – If you’re staying here to explore the Buffalo National River or Ozark-St. Francis National Forests, you’ve picked the best RV park! This RV park is less than 5 minutes from the Big Bluff Trail and also super close to Lost Valley + fairly close to Hawksbill Crag!

THE BUFFALO OUTDOOR CENTER – Access to the Buffalo Outdoor Center itself is a benefit of the Buffalo Outdoor Center RV Park! Not that you have to stay here for that, but it’s nice that it’s so close. Their breakfast burritos are incredible for brekkie, they have a super knowledgable staff, rentals for kayaking/floating, ziplining, and a small store for snacks + souvenirs.

THE WIFI – The wifi here is okay. It’s not enough to stream anything, at least in our experience. But it works for navigation, for updating social media and a bit of internet browsing. If you’re hoping to work remote from this RV park, this isn’t the spot for that.

RECREATIONAL ADD-ONS – There are a few fun recreational add-ons here: horseshoes, a volleyball net + ball and soccer goal + ball. We have a lot of fun playing out here with Charleigh and can’t wait until they’re both old enough to use these even more!

Overall, for travel, I give this campground a 10/10. We stay here at least once a month and never get bored of the region. There are so many beautiful hikes in Northwest Arkansas, some delicious restaurants in Jasper, Arkansas and just ample access to the great outdoors in general. We have loved our camping trips here and look forward to many, many more!
