Stacey and I had planned on doing a “Scandal Tour” of New Orleans, but when we went to the meet up place, the tour guide wasn’t there. So, we went to The Old Absinthe House on Bourbon Street for a drink while we decided what we were going to do for the night, and while we were in there this woman was walking around looking for something, and I (for some reason I have yet to figure out) asked her if I could help her with something- even though I’m not from New Orleans, but it turned out that I was able to help her! She needed to know who the second president was to stumble out of that bar, and I told her there was a plaque of famous patrons outside. Stacey asked if she was doing a scavenger hunt and she told us about this app called Stray Boots that was a scavenger hunt! Stacey and I immediately downloaded it, and we are SO GLAD that we did! We followed the clues to really interesting places that we never would have seen if it wasn’t for that app! Plus, we found different bars along the way to add to the fun! So fun!
We started the night at the Old Absinthe House (and we had to go back there on the hunt, obviously).

The Hotel Monteleone which besides being mentioned in several literary works was a favorite place to stay for Ernest Hemmingway, Tennessee Williams and William Faulkner.

If you’re wondering why this hotel is so famous, look at the photo above… Their bar looks like a carousel and it rotates very slowly. It’s absolutely beautiful! We never would have found this if it weren’t for the app!
This was another stop on the Stray Boots Tour. We had to take a photo looking guilty. Haha
We had to identify an item held in this statue.
Stacey and I found giant jello shots 2 for $5! So, obviously, that was a must!
The beautiful Jackson Square and St. Louis Cathedral were stops as well.
The hunt took us down Pirate Alley, where Stacey and I found the bar that we now call The Pirate Absinthe Bar, but it was a favorite of our stops!
The drink from this bar that had Stacey and I cracking up was the Toxic Baby Shot. It was their drink special, we have no idea what was in it- except for the floating, plastic baby! HAHA!
Stacey toasting to Stray Boots!
Our awesome tour and night ended at Preservation Hall where I had to pretend to play the trombone!
Now, this wasn’t every stop on the tour (I obviously don’t want to ruin it for you guys), but I will be doing a Stray Boots Tour in the next big city I’m in! We loved it!

May 6, 2014 at 7:50 amI hope you do use it! It really is a ton of fun and we learned so much more about the French Quarter because we had walked by these places without even knowing what they were!
