Tabacon Hot Springs Resort + Spa – La Fortuna, Costa Rica

Tabacon Hot Springs Resort + Spa is a luxury resort located near the base of Arenal Volcano. Tabacon hot springs sits just outside out the town of La Fortuna and near many of the popular sites in the area. While the rooms and grounds at Tabacon are stunning, there’s something extra-amazing there: the natural hot springs that run through the resort. We had a glorious stay and I can’t wait to tell you more about Tabacon.

A LITTLE ABOUT TABACON’S ORCHID ROOMS

   Tabacon has a range of rooms available from the smallest and cheapest: Orchid Room along with a collection of suites. The suites range from rainforest rooms to honeymoon suites. We stayed in the Orchid room, which is perfect for a girls trip, or any trip for that matter. The Orchid rooms come in either two queen beds or one king bed. They are perfectly roomy for two. My favorite part was a beautiful seating area in front of a floor-to-ceiling window with a garden view. There was a cozy chair for reading with a footrest and a small table with two chairs – perfect for eating our room service.

The beds were very, very comfortable and cushy. It’s the perfect place to slip into a deep sleep after relaxing in the hot springs. There are multiple fluffy pillows and the pillow mist they brought at turn-down service helped us slip into ultimate relaxation. The bathroom was specious and the shower was huge with a wonderful rainwater shower head. The warm water is actually the same geothermal water that’s in the hot springs that run through the grounds.

The Orchid Room starts at $310/night. This includes a large breakfast buffet. Plus, access to not only the hot springs, but also to the exclusive Shangri-la Gardens. These gardens are the ultimate space to relax. They are exclusive to guests of the resort and it’s only available for guests who are 18+. The suites vary in price starting at $385/night.

TAKING A SOAK IN TABACON HOT SPRINGS

The Tabacon hot springs are a wonderful, natural hot spring spa experience. The waters at Tabacon are formed from a river that is geothermally heated by Arenal Volcano. The water isn’t pumped up or reheated, like many other hot springs have to. The water at Tabacon hot springs naturally streams through the property cascading into waterfalls and settling into various pools to soak in. The waters in these various pools range in temperature from 72-105 degrees Fahrenheit. In addition to the natural hot springs river that flows through the property, there are pools for lounging and playing. One is even outfitted with a waterslide and a swim-up bar. Stacey and I sat at the swim-up bar for a couple of hours one night drinking cocktails. One of the things that made this hot spring experience even better is that the water isn’t overly-sulphuric, so they don’t stink the way many other hot springs do!

Tabacon Hot Springs and Resort has some of the most stunning grounds that I’ve ever seen. There are paths that lead through the jungle around the hot springs river. They’ve planted loads of native plants all around the hot springs and has become a perfect place to catch some nature. You can find all kinds of native birds, coati and even an occasional sloth. Although, you’ll mostly see those on the walk from the resort to the spa + hot springs.

Tabacon hot springs and resort dedicated to sustainability and lowering their environmental impact. In fact, this resort is carbon neutral! How amazing is that? This is a spectacular destination for travelers who are focusing + working on being more sustainable. All of their products are organic or biodegradable, they work on reforestation, they have a plant-a-tree program and more! This is a huge selling point and I hope that many other resorts and hotels follow their lead!

OUR EXPERIENCE AT TABACON HOT SPRINGS AND RESORT

Our time at Tabacon hot springs and resort was an absolute dream. Everything was top notch from the room, to the spa to the cocktails. We had a lot of activities planned while we were in the La Fortuna area, but we managed to squeeze in as much time as possible enjoying this property. We had a delicious lunch in their restaurant – they even split our food for us and we had a couple of room service meals as well and all of them were tasty and we received excellent service as well! Every detail was on point all the way down to our super cushy robes we wore to the spa and around our room.

Tabacon hot springs is a fantastic place to stay for any occasion. Whether you’re here on a girl’s trip like we were, a romantic getaway or a treat yo’self situation, you’re sure to leave beyond satisfied, spoiled and stress-free!
