Perfect Gifts for the Wanderess in Your Life this Holiday Season

The Holiday Season means people are out buying the perfect gifts for friends, family and loved ones. Everyone has their own wishlist for the holiday season and I’ve scoured Amazon to find the best gift options for the wanderess in your life. Whether the female traveler in your life is all about hiking in the outdoors, taking city breaks, the ultimate souvenir curator or the queen of backpacking, this guide has something for her.

 For the Backpacking Queen

Not every girl is all about luxury, some of us love traveling longer and farther, even if it means doing it on the cheap and carrying everything we have on our backs. Essentials for a Backpacking Queen are the perfect backpack, packing cubes and some of the best walking shoes.

I don’t have the Farpoint Osprey Pack, but my husband does and I’ve been having insane pack-envy. This awesome pack zips completely open making it easy to access all of your stuff. Plus, those front pockets on the pack – that’s actually a zip-off day pack! This will definitely be my next pack purchase.

Packing cubes are a lifesaver. Well, at least a space saver. I thought they seemed a little silly at first, but the Eagle Creek Packing Cubes I use when backpacking keep me organized and it also keeps me in check because I try to only take what will fit in my cubes.

I swear by my Tevas, and I’ve even converted Matt to a Teva-lover. We have the tan lines to prove it! I wore my Hurricane Tevas for 101 days straight the last time I went backpacking and I’m currently on day 82 in my new pair and I don’t regret my decision to rely on these as my everyday shoes. Plus, they’re great for water activities, city strolls and hiking trails!

For the Road Warrior

Road trips are one of my absolute favorite ways to travel. Everyone has their road trip necessities, and for me they’re just little things that make me feel comfortable or help me plan the trip from the co-pilot seat.

Whether you’re using your mobile device or iPad for entertainment, trip planning or updating your social media, have a mode of charging is super important. While many cars are equipped with USB ports now, you can’t rely on your BFF’s car or rental having one. This makes road tripping easy. This would make a great stocking-stuffer.

This is currently on my travel wishlist. When we’re back home we have a Toyota 4Runner, so we camp in the back of it, but THIS is perfect for car camping. We’re renting a car in New Zealand and I’m so wishing that this was in my backpack.

My husband got me a Mexican Falsa Blanket for our anniversary last year and I’m obsessed with it! It’s perfect on road trips for more than one reason. 1) keeping you cozy if your travel companion likes it cooler than you. 2) the aforementioned car-camping. 3) epic, bohemian Instagram shots!

For the Nature-Loving Woman

I love being outdoors. Hiking, especially in mountains, is where I feel most in my element. So, anything that makes doing this easier or more fun is perfect for that wild + free spirit in your life.

Eno Hammocks make amazing gifts. I got one for Matt for his birthday last year. Relaxing in a hammock is fantastic, right? So why not have one that you can literally take with you anywhere? They make “SingleNest” and “DoubleNest” so they can fit just you or you plus one. Don’t miss the best way to relax and soak up nature with extreme comfort.

Having the perfect daypack or weekend pack is very important. I don’t always like to take my big packs if I don’t have to. Luckily, I have this pack that’s padded for my comfort and holds everything you could possibly need for a couple of days including two exterior water bottle pockets.

Speaking of water bottles. I don’t go anywhere without my Nalgene bottles. Aside from holding a good amount of water, they’re good for the environment too!

If I’m taking a trail that I know I’ll need hiking shoes or boots, Merrell is my go-to brand. I love the lightweight water hiking shoes to take with me backpacking because they’re just so light. Then for more intense hikes, like the Inca Trail, I loved the Moab boots!

If your nature-lover loves kayaking, waterfall swimming, or just being outside at all, there’s a good chance that she’ll need a dry bag. They come in incredibly handy to hold your phone or camera equipment if your wanderess like to document her travels. Even if you just need to keep a dry set of clothes or a map away from the elements, it’s great!

For the Personal Travel-Museum Curator

I love bringing home perfect things from my travels in addition to recording them in fun, creative ways. Here are some interesting ways for the collector in your life to perfect her collection.

I got a scratch map for Christmas about 5 years ago when they first came out, but now there are so many different styles and colors that the sky is the limit. It’s like a work in progress to see how much of this gorgeous world you’ve seen.

I love this simple way to store tickets, programs and even bar coasters. It’s simple and you can totally make it all your own.

If the wanderess in your life is a also a Christmas-lover, then she’ll absolutely appreciate a gift to help her decorate for the holiday while also inspiring wanderlust. We love picking up ornaments inspired by places we’ve been, globes, suitcases and even airplanes!

Gifts That Any Wanderess Could Appreciate

These handy little tools allow you to quickly and easily transfer your photos from your iPhone to your computer or any other USB port (like a printing station). It’s so amazing and make’s life super easy for travelers, bloggers, social media lovers and photographers alike.

Cute luggage tags are great for many different reasons: they help you locate your bag if it gets lost, they up the cuteness of your bag and they help you spot your bag when they’re coming down the conveyor belt at the airport!

Everyone needs a place to keep stories or momentos from trips. Or the perfect journal to keep their travel notes and bookings or plans for your upcoming adventure.

Blanket scarfs are the bomb because I’ve been on several flights, bus rides, etc that are freezing cold. These are not only adorable but they double as a blanket for those situations. Also, want to take a spontaneous picnic? These are perfect for that as well!

Sleep masks help you sleep in many different places! From airplanes to hostel, these will help you get your best sleep! Especially if you’re going to a Northern destination in the summer where darkness is scarce.

Passport covers are a bit of a catch-22. They’re not always the easiest things to use at passport control, but the thing I LOVE about passport covers – aside from them being super cute – is that it’s one handy-dandy place to keep your boarding passes, train tickets, vaccination records, etc.

My mom bought us fans like these and they;re over-the-top handy. Especially in warmer climates. They can make van rides and afternoon walks much more enjoyable.

Do you know where your favorite wanderess is traveling to next? Pick up a Lonely Planet guide for her! These guides are a huge help in trip planning for everything from budgets, things to see and where to go!

Accessories for Your Travelista

No matter the traveling style the wanderess in your life likes, a rain jacket is always a necessity. There are more intense ones for nature-driven vacations, cute ones for city breaks and everything in between!

Matt bought me one of these the first year we were together and I wore it so often that I wore it out. So, he got me a replacement this year. There are different sizes and designs, so it’s even great to own more than one and change it up a bit.

A dear friend of mine got me a teeny delicate compass necklace a couple of years ago and I constantly get compliments. It’s a less in-your-face trinket to show off your love for travel.

These amazing gifts would be sure to make any wanderess out there happy this holiday season.

They’re wildly comfortable and quite sturdy too! We truly LOVE ours. Don’t forget you have to buy the straps separately.

Love this list. So many options for everyone! That car air mattress is so cool! I’ve always stayed at hotels on road trips, but that air mattress sounds like a pretty fun way to camp in your car 🙂

Great gift ideas. I am a huge fan of packing cubes, I use them for everything as they can be bought in so many different sizes and are ideal for sorting a pack. I have never seen scratch maps before, what a cute idea. The car mattress is another new idea, I can’t see myself using one but I can imagine they are very useful.

Great gift ideas. I’ve been wondering about camping in our car, so the idea of a car airbed is totally fantastic – thanks! I’m an Ecco sandal fan, but I might try Teva for the waterproof factor!

Great work putting together these fantastic ideas! Definitely a great helper with Christmas just around the corner. From own experience, a car charger is a great little tool to have when you hire a car for a road trip. One of the products you selected even had two slots – great if you have a navi and a phone to charge/power.
