The Faroe Islands is a destination that is less visited, wild and truly just unbelievable. While we’re all living in the reality of a global pandemic, we’re all also feeling that travel itch, missing the ability to travel safely and with ease. So, to help inspire your post-COVID adventure, I thought I’d share some photos of the Faroe Islands: one of our favorite destinations of all time.
The Faroe Islands is a beautiful archipelago in the middle of the North Sea. If you drew a line on a map from Iceland, Norway and Scotland they’d meet pretty much right over this small group of islands. Although they’re small, they’re packed full of amazing things to do! Don’t believe me? Check out these photos of the Faroe Islands!
Our very favorite thing to do in the Faroe Islands is to hike! The nature here is unrivaled by anywhere else I can think of that we’ve visited. It’s lush in the oddest ways – mossy and grassy – and the terrain is jagged yet soft and water plays an important part of most of the landscapes. If you plan to do a good amount of hiking, definitely look into Travel Insurance – we love World Nomads!
Our favorite hikes were absolutely Klakkur and The Lake Over the Ocean. Mulafossur was a favorite site that requires no hike at all!
The towns in the Faroe Islands are easy to fall in love with as well. You’ll be able to see traditional architecture, many complete with sod roofs! Also, the traditional Scandinavian-style colors will be seen throughout the towns and countryside.
Road tripping in the Faroe Islands is a must. It’s the easiest and fastest way to get around. It’s stunningly beautiful and always an adventure. Especially with roads like these!
I hope these photos of the Faroe Islands have you ready to search for flights + plan more of your trip. Everything from the architecture, to the nature and even the sweet little sheep will have you thinking about your next visit there on the flight home.
