There’s always something incredibly exciting about going to a place you’ve never visited before, and visiting Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Liechtenstein was no exception! I was especially excited for this trip because I was traveling with my mom for the first time in three years, and she’s one of my favorite travel partners.
Our first stop in Germany was the romantic Bavarian town of Rothenburg. This medieval town still has its original walls intact and you can’t help but be charmed when you walk down the cobblestone streets and pass by all these quaint, pastel colored buildings.
After walking through some of the streets, we made our way into the castle garden, where we spent a good deal of time enjoying the spring-like weather that was surprising for early March!
Medieval armies of Rothenburg would pour hot tar out of this mask on top of invaders attempting to break in!
The sun started to set after while we were in the Castle Garden so we wandered around a bit more before we surrendered to our jet-lag and called it a night.
More on our adventures in Germany- and Rothenburg- tomorrow!
