When I was in elementary school I saw my first Volkswagen Bus and my very first BFF and I wanted to chip in together and buy one for our first car. You know, something only 5th graders would want to do. Even though Chasity and I did not own a car together and my first car was an Oldsmobile Allero, my love for these beautiful vehicles hasn’t faded…. In fact, it just grows more and more each time I see one.
A VW Bus sighting for me isn’t ever a calm reaction. If I’m riding in a car it comes with the shout, “HIPPIE VAN!!!!” and vigorous points & waves. If I’m walking when I see it, my phone comes out and a picture gets taken. I follow Instagram accounts of people who live out of or travel in buses, and I drool over Pinterest pins of van life.
In Asheville there is a VW repair shop called VeeDub, and I’ve stopped by before to take a couple of pictures, but Matt and I finally stopped in and asked them if we could have some fun looking at them and take some photos! They let us and let’s just say that my obsession is currently racing at maximum level!

October 26, 2015 at 10:40 pmI know what you mean. I still want to do the U.S. in a VW Bus at some point in my life, just to have that old hippie experience. Cheers to seeing the world however we can! 🙂
