This week’s edition of Wanderlust Wednesday is TV Shows! There are so many things on TV that can inspire you to travel and these are five of the shows that inspire me…
Rick Steve’s Europe
I really do love Rick Steves, I think he does a good job at not only showing you sites to see, but he goes into the history of these sites as well so you can get a better understanding of what you’re seeing. Also, he always gets local guides who describe aspects of the countries’ cultures whether it be customs, holiday traditions, language, or food. I also like that he advocates B&Bs a lot, because staying with a local adds to your cultural experience. (It’s also nice, because you don’t have to pay for cable to watch his shows!)
Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations
I like Anthony Bourdain the most of all the Travel Channel shows. He is not only freaking hysterical, but he gets down to the culture of the places he visits, and doesn’t just walk around looking at pretty things and eating foods. Plus, he goes outside of Europe which is a plus. I saw an episode last year where he was in Indonesia, and ever since I’ve been wanting to go to Java and Bali!
Diners Drive-Ins and Dives
The thing that I really love about this show is that you can go on a road trip and incorporate this show in. I’ve only been to three of the restaurants so far, but I have loved every one of them and you can read about two of these restaurants in my post about my road trip to Virginia with Alex. We now have a list of all the restaurants he’s been to that we look at before driving anywhere.
Planet Earth
Every time I see any of these episodes I always want to do nothing but sail a boat around the world and visit everyplace in these! They’re so amazing! They pretty much speak for themselves. If you’re a nature lover, they’ll make you want to see it all.
These are some of the TV shows that I love that inspire me to go out and see the world! I hope that you guys enjoy these as well, or if you know any others I should check out, please suggest them! I am always looking for more inspiration! Happy Wednesday, and I hope everyone is having a great week!
